HORN

Our Mission Statement
Revised Spring 2002

"The primary concern of applied horn in the University of Oklahoma's French Horn Studio is to have students, no matter which major, become accomplished at making music through horn performance. While non-majors will only use this as a tool for recreation or general knowledge, education and performance majors alike will be expected to undergo a more thorough grounding of the technicalities of the instrument as well as a greater exposure to literature.

It is my responsibility as an artist/teacher to develop horn technique and knowledge to assure you, the student, that you will be fully qualified to pursue advanced degree work at any major school of music. Therefore, I will have specific guidelines set for you to attain your goals.

No matter which discipline, the pursuit of excellence is paramount for all artists and educators. Even a vocational performance has intrisic meaning when one participates in a musical event where achievment is at the maximum level."
