University Chorale

University Chorale is an advanced vocal ensemble comprised primarily of graduate and advanced undergraduate music students. Chorale performs twice a year with the Accademia Filarmonica, a professional orchestra, and also performs a cappella concerts both on and off campus. Participation in University Chorale fulfills a music major’s major-ensemble requirement.
Members of University Chorale have opportunities to participate in national and international performance tours, as well as performances of newly commissioned choral works, and CD and DVD recordings.
University Singers
Mark Lucas, director (bio)
University Singers is a select large ensemble open to any University of Oklahoma student by audition. Although the majority of singers are music majors, many students not majoring in music participate in University Singers. Participation in University Singers fulfills a music major’s major-ensemble requirement.
Under the current director, Dr. Mark Lucas, the ensemble was selected to perform at the 2009 Oklahoma Music Educators Association state conference, and participated in the choir in the world premiere of Dominick Argento’s Cenotaph at the American Choral Directors Association national convention in Oklahoma City in March 2009. Members of the University Singers regularly tour internationally, and a performance tour of France is planned for 2010.
University Chamber Singers

University Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Steve Curtis, is an eighteen-voice choral ensemble that performs primarily a cappella chamber choir works. Their varied repertoire ranges from madrigals and part songs to popular contemporary numbers, and Chamber Singers frequently perform at Oklahoma University concerts and functions as well as events in the local community.
The Singing Sooners

The Singing Sooners will be a new ensemble open to all students in the University. Come learn all your OU Spirit Songs! Everyone, regardless of major, will be welcome to sing. There is no audition required, but you will need to be heard for placement within the ensemble. The Singing Sooners will function as a
men's and women's ensemble and will also combine to become a mixed ensemble. A wide variety of music will be performed including show choir tunes, popular selections, OU Spirit Songs (Oklahoma Hail!, Boomer Sooner, Hail to Oklahoma, O.K. Oklahoma! O.U. Chant), vocal jazz charts, and you will be given the opportunity to combine with other OU choirs to perform major choral works with orchestra.
Collegium Musicum

Collegium Musicum is an advanced choral ensemble specializing in pre-Baroque era music. Comprised of six to 12 graduate and advanced upperclass undergraduate students, the ensemble performs one major concert per semester and also participates on other projects. The Collegium Musicum is highly regarded for their unique choral performances.
OU Opera Chorus

The OU Opera Chorus is an ensemble that performs with orchestra in fully staged productions by the Oklahoma Opera Theater. Performing in one or two operas each year, singers experience the thrill of combining great music with costumes, makeup, lighting, sets, scenery, and staging.
