The recently completed Stanley B. Catlett Music Center was built from the ground up for Music Technology. Audio, Video and Network connections course through the entire facility allowing for a myriad of multimedia possibilities. The building houses two Electronic Piano/Keyboard Labs with 17 stations each and one MIDI Lab with 21 workstations. The Computer Music Studio has the latest in recording hardware and software and allows students the opportunity for real-world, hands-on experience in electoacoustic music composition and research, along with its professional recording, editing, mixing, and mastering capabilities. In addition to all dedicated Music Technology facilities, all the major performance spaces are fully equipped for recording as well as for the production and performance of electroacoustic music.

The two Electronic Piano/Keyboard Labs are located on the ground floor of the Catlett Music Center in rooms 008 and 009. Each of these labs is equipped with 16 student workstations with a Yamaha Clavinova CVP301 digital piano and a teacher station with a Yamaha Clavinova CVP307 digital piano. Additionally, room 008 hosts a Yamaha Disklavier. These labs are primarily used for the teaching of class piano and piano pedagogy.

It consists of 20 student workstations each equipped with an iMac computer, a Kurzweil K2vx synthesizer keyboard, a M-Audio Audiophile Firewire MIDI/Audio interface, and a Kawai MX8BR line mixer. In addition to the hardware found on the student stations, the teacher station also includes a Kawai MR370 digital piano, an Emu Proteus/2 sound module, a MOTU MIDI Express XT, and a Mackie LM3204 mixer. Software installed in the lab includes Pro Tools, Digital Performer, MaxMSP, Csound, Finale, Sibelius, Microsoft Office, Dreamweaver, and many others. Although the lab is used for classes on weekday mornings and early afternoons, it is open for student use in late afternoons and evenings.

This suite of rooms consists of a control room (Computer Music Studio), two isolation rooms and an amplifier/patch room that allows connections to all major performing spaces in the building. The Computer Music Studio currently operates with a Macintosh G5 Quad and Pro Tools HD192 system. The studio hosts the latest Mackie Onyx 2480 mixing board, and a Mackie HUI digital control board. Sound is diffused via an 8.1 surround system based on Mackie HR824 speakers, and one Mackie HRS120 active subwoofer. Numerous professional recording and controlling equipment is installed, such as a direct-to-CD recorder, DAT recorder, Tascam DA-98 8-track digital synthesizers, iCubeX motion sensors, and a sizable collection of high quality microphones.
