Dr. Valerie Watts teaches flute to graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Oklahoma. She is principal flute in the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra, a member of the Oklahoma Woodwind Quintet and a faculty member of the Summer Music Institute at Quartz Mountain. Watts is principal flutist with the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra during the summer and occasionally performs as guest flutist in the Los Angeles area with the Bach Camerata based in Santa Barbara. She has played flute and piccolo in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and toured as soloist and chamber musician in Europe with the Eastman-Dryden Orchestra. Watts was a 1993 finalist of the Festivales Internacionales de Flautistas in Lima, Peru, and is a former fellow at the Bach Aria Institute and Festival in Stony Brook, New York. Watts has recorded with the CBS Masterworks, Integra and W.W. Norton labels.
