Important Preliminary Information
Applicants must apply separately for admission to the School of Music and for admission to the university and should pursue both applications at the same time. No audition will be scheduled before the applicant has applied to the university.
Apply to the University of Oklahoma
For detailed information on admission to the University of Oklahoma, visit the OU Admissions, Records & Registration site. U.S. citizens and permanent residents will find university application forms at Undergraduate Admissions. Students from abroad should consult information for international students. Send the university application, with certified transcripts, application fee and (for international applicants) financial statement, to the Office of Admissions, 1000 Asp Avenue, Norman OK 73019. Apply to the School of Music
Complete the Application and Audition Registration Form (PDF format. This form requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can fill out the form onscreen or you can print it and fill in by hand. You cannot save the form as filled out, but you can print it. Be sure to print an extra copy for yourself.)
Send the completed form to:

Include with your application form the following:
- 1. A full resumé that includes the name and address of your high school, name of your high school band/orchestra/choir director(s), name of your private music teacher(s), honors and awards, work experience and musical performance experience.
- 2. A one-page, double-spaced typewritten or word-processed essay describing what part music plays in your life and why you wish to study music at the university level.
You must also have sent to Brenda Durnbaugh at the School of Music:
- Two letters of recommendation (one music and one non-music recommendation)
Important Information for Transfer Students
If you are currently on a music scholarship at your institution, before any offer of admission to a music degree and/or a music scholarship can be presented by the OU School of Music, the dean or director of your current school must send to Brenda Durnbaugh at the School of Music:
- A scholarship release letter.
